Little Sarah Birch

Welcome To Little Sarah Birch
Who am I? I’m a mother, a wife, Maritimer, a former lawyer, and a self-proclaimed adventurer who goes by Sarah. I’m not funny per se, but I get myself into funny situations that create humour in my life. I believe that everyone has a story to tell; this blog will be home to my story.
Because our family recently moved from the West to the East Coast of Canada (back to “our roots”), I’ve been thinking a lot about how to turn the place you live into your home. This blog is meant for anyone looking to feel more at home in their own life and community, while following along with mine.

The Great Divide Between Friendly & Friendship
See that photo below? That’s me, Sarah Lawson (now Sarah Birch), listed as “friendliest” in the yearbook superlatives. Friendliness is easy for an extrovert like me. My best friend likes to recount the tale about the time I had such a great conversation with the...
The Year of the “S” Words (guiding words for 2020)
There’s been a lot of talk about people’s “guiding word” of 2020. I’ve never really been a “guiding word” kind of person. Why should each year get a word? Can I choose the same word as I did last year? Just kidding, I didn’t choose one last year, nor any year before...
That Blogger Life: Fun Yet Complicated. A Former Lawyer’s View
Lawyer turned Explorer. That’s how I’m known these days. Once upon a time, I studied law, then I had a less traditional but still legal-related career (particularly related to contracts). Two years ago, I became active in social media and about a year ago, I started...
Best “clean” skincare & makeup products (for me)
Remember that time when I became a dermatologist and makeup artist? You don't? Oh wait, that's because I'm neither of those things. You may argue that I have no business writing about my favourite "clean" skincare & makeup products, but I disagree. While my...
What To Do in Saint John, NB
When I was younger, my friends used to call Saint John "The John," which is a highly misleading name for such a flourishing and beautiful city! As a Saint John native, I had a wonderful childhood there - and I appreciate it even more when I visit the city as an...
The Tale of a Recovering Shy Kid
Note: StageCoach has offered Amelia a scholarship for social media coverage, but as always, the opinions are my own. “Would you like something to drink?” our server asked Amelia at a restaurant this summer. She turned to me and said “Chocolate milk” in a...
Life Lessons from Hurricane Dorian
I didn’t live in Halifax during Hurricane Juan. I lived in the Maritimes and heard all about it, but I didn’t witness it first-hand. When Hurricane Dorian was announced, it barely hit my radar - at first. By good fortune, my next-door neighbour is aware of my...
Micro Needling in Bedford: how Mudwraps to Manicures improved my skin
Note: this service was gifted to me but I was not required to write a blog post. The opinions are very much my own! A picture paints a thousand words, so let me start by going straight to the "before and after" photos. They were taken in the same room, with the same...
